Hirumi is a passionate and experienced paediatric physiotherapist who has a special interest in working with babies and infants with delayed movement skills such as rolling, crawling and walking as well as supporting children with a range of neurodevelopmental conditions. She is committed to providing early intervention to help children achieve their developmental milestones and optimise long-term outcomes.
Adopting a family-centered, goal-directed approach, she ensures that every child and family receives personalised, high-quality care suited to their specific needs. Her warm, play-based methods foster a fun and engaging environment, recognising that children learn best when they are having fun!
With extensive knowledge and experience, she has honed her expertise in providing exceptional care to babies and children of all ages and abilities. Her diverse background spans community health, the disability sector, paediatric private practice, the Department of Education, and public hospital settings.
When she's not working, you'll find her travelling the world, getting lost in a good book, hiking, or enjoying competitive boardgame nights with friends and family.

At Shine Bright Paediatric Physiotherapy, we provide mobile appointments, bringing our services directly to children in their natural environments. Whether at home, childcare, kindergarten, school, the local playground, or another community setting, we tailor our approach to support each child's individual goals.
If location or illness makes it difficult to access our services, or if it's simply more convenient, we also offer telehealth video appointments.
No, a referral is not needed for a child to be seen by a paediatric physiotherapist.
If you would like to self-refer your child for physiotherapy services, please follow the steps below:
1. Fill in the intake form that appears at the top of the website so that we can gain information about how we can best support your child and your main concerns
2. Our physiotherapist will be in touch with you via email to organise a free 15 minute phone call/video call to determine if we are the best fit for you
3. From here, we will book in an initial appointment at your home or the community and complete a comprehensive assessment and develop an ongoing management plan
For NDIS clients:
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers funding to Australians who need early intervention or have a disability, helping them access support and services tailored to their specific needs. Fees are based on the NDIS pricing arrangements and price limits.
For private paying clients:
Prices vary depending on location of appointment (travel fee included) and length of appointment. Please contact Shine Bright Paediatric Physiotherapy for further details on fees. We will be able to provide you with the prices appropriate for your child’s needs.
You may be eligible for a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan obtained through your GP. This plan allows you to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 5 sessions per calendar year to put towards physiotherapy. We recommend talking to your GP and checking whether your child is eligible or visit https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/requirements-for-chronic-disease-health-care-plan?context=20#accordion2 for more information.
If your private health insurance covers physiotherapy, you may be eligible for a rebate on your child's appointments. The amount of the rebate depends on your specific insurance plan and coverage. We recommend reaching out to your insurance provider before your appointment to check the claimable amount and any covering restrictions that may apply.
The duration and frequency of your child's appointments will vary depending on each child's case.
An initial consult will typically go for 60 minutes (with 10 minutes allocated for note taking, liaising with health professionals etc)
A review appointment will go for 45-60minutes
The frequency of your child's appointments will depend on the nature of their condition and individual needs. Your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into account your goals and expectations.
